5 Signs It’s Time to Outsource Your Social Media Marketing

As business owners, we try to do it all. In the startup stages, we don’t have a choice – even if you have business partners! It can be overwhelming to try and keep up with all of it.

We know – we’ve been there! Every growing company or organization is going to have growing pains, that look a little different between each individual case.

We also know it’s difficult to give up control, or give someone else access to your tools. In this case, your social media accounts.

But… if you identify with any (or all) of the following, it might just be time to outsource your social media marketing.

  1. You suck at it.
Most business owners we come across in our daily lives tell us point blank that they have no idea what they’re doing on social media when it comes to their business! What kind of copy (written text) do I need to write? How long should it be? What creative (image) should I use? Should I even put an image in the post? What hashtags are appropriate for my business, industry, and this particular post? It’s daunting if you’re not well versed!
  2. You don’t remember to do it.
How many items do you have on your to-do list that outweigh “post on Facebook” or “post on Instagram” in importance? Probably more than you want to admit! Many business owners get so caught up in doing everything else, that they forget to tell the Internet about who they are, what they do, and how they can help their next client. Seriously!
  3. It’s not helping you grow your business.
If it’s not helping your business, it’s hurting your business. Every day you don’t post something relevant and engaging to your target audience on social media, you’re losing out on followers and potentially new customers! Humans in general tend to have FOMO (fear of missing out), but for business owners, we’ve found that the FOMO is even greater.
  4. You have no idea if you’re on the right platforms.?
One of the first complaints we hear when talking with other business owners is something along the lines of “I have a ___ account, but I don’t post on it.” Within the span of a few minutes, we uncover that they don’t even know if they’re on the right social media platforms to begin with! Yes, there are platforms that are better suited to certain industries than others! For instance, if you own a restaurant and/or bar, you will be better suited to Facebook + Instagram. On the other hand, if your business has a strong DIY component of any sort to it, you may be better suited to something like Pinterest, and maybe Instagram (depending on what it is).
  5. You’ve been thinking about hiring someone to do it.?
The most obvious sign is that you’ve already been thinking about it! If you’ve said “can’t I just pay someone to do this for me?” or “I wish someone would take this off my hands”, or anything along those lines, it’s time to outsource!
